When Zhao Yan’s son was diagnosed with autism, she didn’t just see challenges—she saw a calling. In 2015, the Gansu Province mother poured her life savings into founding the Zhibo Special Education Training Center, a haven where children with disabilities learn skills to navigate the world.
From teaching daily routines to fostering social interactions, Zhao’s center has supported over 400 kids—for free. Many graduates now cook, clean, and communicate independently, lifting burdens off families in one of China’s less-developed regions.
