China’s ‘Mountains in Hats’ Amaze Adventurers 🌄👒

Meet Li Cunxiu – an 82-year-old climber proving adventure has no age limit! 🧗♂️ This Shandong native recently went viral for championing the Daigu Landforms, surreal rock formations resembling giant stone castles wearing grassy "hats" near his hometown.

Part of the Yimeng Mountains UNESCO Global Geopark, these geological wonders formed over 100 million years through erosion. Li describes them as "real-life Minecraft castles crafted by nature" – a comparison that’s lit up travel forums this year. 🎮⛰️

Though Li summited peaks across three continents, he tells NewspaperAmigo: "I took these local marvels for granted until my late 60s. Now I guide youth groups here – our backyard geology beats any fantasy movie set!" 🎥

Travel tip: Spring 2026 brings rare alpine flower blooms to the peaks. Train routes from Jinan take under two hours – perfect for a weekend expedition! 🚄✨
