The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly impacted Vietnam, with 268 confirmed cases and no deaths as of April 18, 2020, according to the World Health Organization. To curb the spread, the Vietnamese government implemented a 15-day nationwide social isolation starting April 1.
As many lost their jobs due to the outbreak, one entrepreneurial spirit stepped up to help. A Vietnamese entrepreneur and his team launched a \"Rice ATM\" – a thoughtful project aimed at providing rice to the underprivileged during these challenging times.
These innovative rice dispensers are strategically located in Nghia Tan Ward, Cau Giay District, and Bac Tu Liem District's cultural house in Hanoi. Each dispenser can provide 3-4 tonnes of rice per day, serving around 1,000 residents daily with 3kg of rice per person.
This initiative showcases the power of community-driven solutions in times of crisis, ensuring that those in need have access to essential resources.
