The China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) just gave the world a virtual tour of its Iconic Tower, a jaw-dropping 385.8-meter skyscraper set to become Africa’s tallest building. But this isn’t just about steel and glass: it’s a story of cultural connection.
During an online open-day event, CSCEC showcased progress on Egypt’s New Administrative Capital project, revealing how over 2,000 employees (and up to 5,000 during peak times!) are blending engineering prowess with cross-cultural teamwork. Meet Hanan Osman Abdelkader, a trailblazing Egyptian admin manager who’s been with CSCEC for nearly 30 years. 'This is my home,' she says, proving that multinational projects can foster real family-like bonds.
Then there’s Mary Raouf, a decoration design engineer whose love for Chinese culture runs deep. Thanks to her mom – one of Egypt’s first Chinese-language students – Mary grew up surrounded by Chinese books. Now, she’s helping build a friendship school where Egyptian kids learn Mandarin from CSCEC volunteers. 'I’m proud to shape my hometown’s future while bridging our cultures,' she beams.
