When Tradition Meets Tropical Vibes

Zhang Yinggang, a Chinese expat in Singapore, is reimagining Lunar New Year celebrations far from home. 🏮 With travel restricted due to COVID-19, Zhang turned his Singaporean flat into a hybrid holiday hub – blending red lanterns from Chinatown with local pineapple tarts, a classic Singaporean treat. \"It’s like Crazy Rich Asians meets my hometown customs,\" he laughs.

Chinatown Treasures & Office Cheer

Zhang’s prep included snagging mandarin oranges 🍊 (symbolizing prosperity) and yu sheng, a raw fish salad Singaporeans toss for luck. He even decked his office desk with mini firecrackers and ang baos (red envelopes) – sparking curiosity among coworkers. \"I’m showing how traditions evolve,\" he says.
