Texas School Shooting: Grandmother’s Plea for Action

A Texas community is reeling from tragedy as 18-year-old gunman Salvador Ramos killed 19 children and two adults at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde on May 24. The attack, the deadliest US school shooting since 2018, began when Ramos shot his 66-year-old grandmother before driving to the school.

Dora Martinez, whose granddaughter was among the victims, broke down in tears during a televised appeal. 'How many more children have to die?' she asked. 'We need the government to act—these guns are destroying families.'
