The 2023 BRICS Summit wrapped up in South Africa this week, but the energy lives on through passionate youth voices! Nompilo Mkhulisi, a student at Durban University of Technology’s Confucius Institute, shared her hopes for the bloc’s future during a ‘We Talk’ interview with CGTN.
Mkhulisi – who recently received a reply letter from Chinese President Xi Jinping – told reporters: What I love about BRICS is how it pushes countries to collaborate… it gives us hope for tackling big challenges like unemployment.
As youth unemployment hits record highs in parts of Africa and beyond, her words highlight BRICS’ growing role as a forum for addressing systemic issues. With over 40 countries reportedly interested in joining the bloc, could this be the start of a new global economic era?
