The Baiyangdian Lake has been a lifeline for many since the 1950s. However, declining water levels led to frequent dry spells, forcing numerous families to leave in search of better opportunities.
This heartfelt video chronicles the journey of one such family who migrated to Wuliangsu Lake in the early 1960s. Despite not being born in Baiyangdian, Xin Liu, the youngest son, followed in his father’s footsteps to become a fisherman. His mother's deepest wish has always been to return to their beloved hometown.
Today, that wish is on the verge of coming true. Thanks to the efforts following the establishment of the Xiongan New Area, Baiyangdian's water levels are rising once again, bringing hope and renewal to the community.
