Nanjing Massacre Memorial: Taiwan Resident Honors Ancestors’ Sacrifice 🌸✊

As China observed the 12th national memorial day for Nanjing Massacre victims on December 13, 2025, a poignant voice emerged from the Taiwan region. Wang Sung-bo, a Chengdu-based descendant of WWII resistance veterans, shared heartfelt reflections with NewspaperAmigo.com about preserving historical memory. 🕊️

"My parents fought so we could taste peace," said Wang, whose father served in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. The 80th anniversary of WWII's end this year adds weight to his message: "Comfort breeds forgetfulness – we must fight that." His family's wartime letters, displayed in the video, reveal bullet-pierced pages that “still smell of gunpowder.”

Over 300,000 people died in the 1937 Nanjing atrocities. Wang emphasized cross-strait unity in remembrance: “Whether you're from Beijing or Taipei, these martyrs died for all our tomorrows.” Historians note this year's observances saw record youth participation nationwide, with VR recreations helping Gen Z connect to the past. 📜➡️🕶️
