Excitement is building in Bangladesh as the country’s first under-river tunnel, the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel, edges closer to completion. This groundbreaking infrastructure project spans an impressive 3.4 kilometers and features a 5.35-kilometer approach road.
One of the tunnel’s standout features is a 727-meter bridge that seamlessly connects the main city and port on the western side of the Karnaphuli River with its eastern counterpart. This bridge will not only enhance connectivity but also boost economic growth by making transportation more efficient.
Recently, CGTN reporter Wu Bin had the opportunity to visit the tunnel site alongside dedicated employees from China Communications Construction Company. Their visit highlighted the immense effort and collaboration involved in bringing this ambitious project to life.
Once completed, the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel is set to revolutionize travel and commerce in South Asia, setting a new standard for infrastructure in the region.
