A powerful magnitude-6.8 earthquake struck Dingri County in Xigaze, southwest of the Chinese mainland's Xizang Autonomous Region, at a depth of 10 kilometers at 9:05 a.m. on Tuesday.
The emergency response in Xizang has been elevated to Level I, the highest level, as announced by the region's emergency command center.
By around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, the first batch of over 5,800 relief supplies, including cotton tents, clothing, and quilts, were urgently dispatched by the Office of the National Commission for Disaster Reduction and Relief, the Ministry of Emergency Management, and the National Grain and Reserves Administration to the affected areas in Dingri.
The remaining 16,000-plus items of relief supplies are set to continue arriving at the disaster zones on Wednesday, ensuring ongoing support for those impacted by the earthquake.
