Bright Collar Snake Discovered in Central China! 🐍✨

Move over, fashion influencers—nature just dropped a new trendsetter! 🌿 Scientists in Hunan Province have unveiled the Achalinus nanshanensis, a dazzling snake species rocking a bright yellow neck collar. Talk about reptilian runway vibes!

What Makes This Snake Unique?

Discovered during fieldwork in subtropical forests, this shy, non-venomous creature loves post-rain strolls near streams. Its shimmering scales—common in the odd-scaled snake genus Achalinus—glow like iridescent glitter under light. 🌈 'It’s like finding a hidden gem in your backyard,' said Prof. Mo Xiaoyang, part of the research team.

Why It Matters

This discovery brings the global count of Achalinus species to 28, with most found in China, Vietnam, and Japan. Found only in Hunan’s Chengbu and Tongdao counties, the snake highlights the region’s rich biodiversity. 🌏 The findings were published in ZooKeys, proving science journals can serve serious #aesthetic goals too.
