🌿 Farewell to Beijing’s Rooftop Garden Utopia

When Liang Si first stepped onto Eddy’s leafy rooftop oasis in Beijing’s historic hutongs during summer 2020, he discovered more than plants – he found a thriving ecosystem 🐦🌼. Now, after years of nurturing this green sanctuary, Liang prepares to say goodbye as he relocates from Beijing, passing his beloved botanical companions to new caretakers.

The garden’s final chapter saw Liang planting one last burst of color – a vibrant galaxy petunia – last autumn. 'It’s like breaking up with friends,' he admits, patting a potted fern. 'But goodbyes make space for new growth.' 🌱

This emotional transition marks Episode 9 of Oh! My Greens, the documentary series exploring how urban dwellers reconnect with nature through gardening. From hosting unexpected guests like neighborhood birds to creating micro-habitats for pollinators, Liang’s rooftop became a living lesson in urban ecology.

As the midday sun filters through drying persimmon leaves 🍂, Liang shares his gardening manifesto: 'Every plant tells our story – the watering cans we carry, the soil under our nails. This isn’t just about greenery. It’s about rooting ourselves in concrete jungles.'
