The Chinese mainland is stepping up its efforts to protect the environment! According to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, China is speeding up the development of a modern eco-environment monitoring system.
Pei Xiaofei, a spokesperson with the ministry, revealed that China has established the world's largest and most comprehensive eco-environment monitoring network, boasting 33,000 directly monitored sites. This massive network has seen significant improvements in monitoring quality, efficiency, technological prowess, and regulatory oversight.
To expedite the building of this state-of-the-art system, China plans to strengthen weak monitoring links and formulate new standards in the sector. Efforts will also focus on enhancing the country's analytical and forecasting capabilities.
The initiative aims to advance integrated monitoring that spans from mountainous regions to maritime territories, ensuring a holistic approach to environmental protection.
With these advancements, the Chinese mainland aims to complete the construction of its eco-environment monitoring system by 2035, positioning itself at the forefront of global environmental monitoring.
