Exciting news for dinosaur enthusiasts! 🦕 A team of scientists announced on Monday the discovery of massive two-toed tracks of deinonychosaurs in Lincheng Town, southeast China's Fujian Province.
Over the years, the Longxiang tracksite has been a treasure trove for paleontologists, with at least eight types of dinosaur tracks uncovered by experts from China University of Geosciences and Yingliang Stone Natural History Museum. Among these, 12 are didactyl deinonychosaur tracks, showcasing two distinct morphologies.
Notably, five of these tracks are giants, measuring an average of 36.4 centimeters in length and 16.9 centimeters in width. This groundbreaking find has led researchers to establish a new dinosaur taxon: Fujianipus yingliangi. This discovery not only adds to our understanding of dinosaur diversity but also highlights the rich paleontological significance of Fujian Province.
