Sumatra Floods Death Toll Reaches 67 🌊🚨

Indonesia's West Sumatra province is reeling after devastating flash floods and mudslides claimed 67 lives, with 20 still missing as of Thursday. Authorities have ramped up rescue efforts while planning to relocate displaced survivors to safer zones. 🌍💔

The national disaster agency (BNPB) reported over 4,000 people evacuated to shelters, while critical infrastructure—including 521 homes, roads, and bridges—lies in ruins. Rice fields covering 31,985 hectares were also wiped out, threatening local food supplies. 🌾🚧

"We're prioritizing relocating families from high-risk areas to prevent future tragedies," said BNPB head Suharyanto. Teams are now assessing how many residents need new housing and identifying safe relocation sites. 🏠🔍

This disaster underscores Southeast Asia's vulnerability to extreme weather, with climate scientists warning of more frequent floods as global temperatures rise. Stay tuned for updates as rescue operations continue. #ClimateCrisis
