175 Dead as Historic Floods Ravage Southern Brazil 🌧️

Southern Brazil is grappling with one of its worst natural disasters in recent history. As of now, 175 lives have been lost due to unprecedented floods in the Rio Grande do Sul state.

The state’s civil defense agency reports that over 800 individuals have been injured, and 38 are still missing. Since April 29, record-breaking rains have affected more than 2.3 million people, roughly 20% of the state's population.

👉 Over 423,400 residents have been displaced, with 18,800 still seeking refuge in temporary shelters. The devastation spans more than two-thirds of the nearly 500 cities in Rio Grande do Sul, making this a truly historic disaster.

But the challenges aren't over yet. The civil defense agency warns that heavy rainfall is expected to hit the state again from June 14 to 17. Stay safe and stay informed! 🌊
