Record-Breaking Heatwave Grips the U.S., Leaving Millions in the Sizzle 🔥

The United States is currently enduring an intense and persistent heatwave that's smashing records coast to coast. From the scorching deserts of Death Valley to the humid East, this prolonged period of extreme temperatures is taking a toll on both people and the environment. 🌡️🔥

Tragically, the relentless heat led to the death of a motorcyclist in Death Valley, highlighting the dangers posed by these soaring temperatures. Meanwhile, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued excessive heat warnings for about 36 million people, roughly 10% of the U.S. population. Meteorologist Bryan Jackson warns that the situation is critical as the heatwave shows no signs of easing.

In the West and Pacific Northwest, dozens of locations have either tied or shattered previous heat records. Northern California has seen temperatures climb above 43.3°C (110°F), with the city of Redding reaching an unprecedented 48.3°C (119°F) — the hottest temperature ever recorded there! 🥵

Over in Phoenix, yesterday set a new record for the warmest low temperature, never dipping below 33.3°C (92°F). This means nights are barely offering any respite from the daytime heat, making it even more challenging to stay cool and safe.

As the U.S. grapples with this extreme weather, experts urge everyone to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Stay safe and take care during this blistering heatwave! ☀️💧
