China has rolled out 238 million yuan ($33.35 million) in emergency funding to help flood-hit regions revive farms and protect crops . The support targets Henan, Hunan, Chongqing, Sichuan, and Shaanxi—areas battered by heavy rains that damaged fields and agricultural infrastructure.
The funds will focus on repairing flooded crops, restoring greenhouses, and improving drainage systems to shield farmers from further losses. 'This is crucial to stabilize food production and protect livelihoods,' a Ministry of Finance spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, China’s weather agency issued an orange rainstorm alert—the second-highest warning level—with up to 200 mm of rain expected in Beijing, Hebei, Tianjin, and Guangdong within 24 hours. A yellow alert for severe storms was also issued for Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, and Jilin, where hail and strong winds could disrupt recovery efforts .
As climate extremes test farmers’ resilience, these measures aim to balance urgent relief with long-term food security.
