Hong Kong’s Ocean Park is celebrating the arrival of adorable panda twins! 🌟 Early Thursday morning, giant panda Ying Ying gave birth to a female and male cub, marking a joyous milestone for conservation efforts and cross-regional cooperation.
The cubs’ parents, Ying Ying and Le Le, were gifted by the Chinese mainland to Hong Kong in 2007 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the region’s return to China. 🎉 Their successful natural mating in March—a rare feat in captivity—led to the twins’ birth after a five-month gestation period.
A team of local and mainland experts from the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda is working 24/7 to ensure the newborns and Ying Ying remain healthy. 👩⚕️🧑🔬 Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee thanked the central government for the pandas, calling them a 'symbol of unwavering support' for the region.
This isn’t Hong Kong’s first panda love story: The city previously welcomed An An and Jia Jia in 1999. While both passed away in recent years, Ying Ying and Le Le’s twins now carry forward their legacy. ❤️
Planning a trip to Hong Kong? Add Ocean Park to your itinerary—these fuzzy newcomers are sure to become global superstars! 🌍🐾
