Giant Pandas An An and Ke Ke Land in Hong Kong
Hong Kong’s Ocean Park just got a whole lot fluffier! 🌟 Two giant pandas, An An and Ke Ke, touched down in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Thursday, marking the 27th anniversary of the region’s return to China. The dynamic duo is the third panda pair gifted to Hong Kong, and they’re already stealing hearts.
Quarantine and New Beginnings
After a flight from Chengdu, the pandas began a 30-day quarantine to adjust to their new home. Ocean Park staff have been prepping since July, using care training and sensory exposure to ease the transition. “An An is the life of the party, while Ke Ke is our resident climber,” shared a park spokesperson. 🎋
Meet the Stars
Born in June 2019, the pandas have distinct personalities: playful An An loves showing off his agility, while gentle Ke Ke prefers scaling trees like a pro. Veterinarian Cheng Yanxi from China’s panda research center confirmed both are healthy and will stay in Hong Kong for 2-3 months to ensure they settle in smoothly.
A Legacy of Panda Diplomacy
The pair will join four other pandas at Ocean Park and are set to greet the public by December. HKSAR Chief Executive Chan Kwok-ki called their arrival a “symbol of cross-regional friendship” during the welcome ceremony. 🎊 With their debut around the corner, panda enthusiasts worldwide are already planning their visits!
