🌱 9 Green Projects Get COP16 Boost via China-Led Fund

Nine biodiversity projects spanning 15 countries just scored major backing at COP16 in Cali, Colombia, thanks to the Kunming Biodiversity Fund – a game-changing initiative spearheaded by China. From protecting endangered ecosystems to tackling invasive species, these projects aim to turn the tide for our planet 🌍.

The projects span four regions: Central/Eastern Europe, Asia-Pacific 🌏, Africa 🦁, and Latin America 🌵. 'This isn’t just about funding – it’s about global partnership,' said Chinese Minister of Ecology Huang Runqiu, highlighting efforts to help developing nations meet the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework goals.

UNEP chief Inger Andersen praised China’s leadership, calling its $210M pledge a 'critical step' for global conservation. Launched earlier this year, the fund is already fueling real-world action as over 12,000 COP16 delegates debate how to accelerate progress on biodiversity targets.

With invasive species and habitat loss threatening 1M species worldwide, initiatives like these could rewrite Earth’s survival story 📈. Stay tuned for more updates as COP16 runs through Nov 1!
