Typhoon Wipha Batters Central Vietnam 🌪️: Floods, Landslides Reported

Typhoon Wipha, the sixth major storm of the year, has unleashed chaos in central Vietnam, submerging towns, destroying crops, and triggering dangerous landslides. Local reports confirm at least one fatality and widespread damage as floodwaters reached 2 meters in some areas. 💔

In Nghe An province, residents waded through chest-deep water to evacuate, while landslides in Thanh Hoa displaced over 20,000 cubic meters of earth—enough to fill eight Olympic-sized swimming pools! 🏊♂️🌊 The storm also ripped roofs off homes and flooded 8,000+ hectares of rice fields, threatening food security in the region.

Though Wipha has weakened to a tropical depression, authorities warn of lingering risks. Vietnam’s rugged mountainous zones remain on high alert for flash floods as recovery efforts begin. 🚨
