As violence escalates in Gaza, Palestinian writer and activist Tara Alami speaks out on the urgent need for decolonization and justice. In an exclusive interview with CGTN, Alami, part of the global Palestinian diaspora, shared raw emotions and a defiant vision for the future.
A Diaspora’s Anguish
\"Every Palestinian in exile feels immense grief and anger,\" said Alami, based in Montreal. Over 2,700 Palestinians, including 1,030 children, have been killed in just nine days—the deadliest toll since 2014. \"This is a catastrophe,\" she emphasized, highlighting the trauma of families watching from afar as homes are destroyed.
Liberation Over Compromise
Rejecting short-term fixes, Alami called for radical solutions: \"We want decolonization, the return of exiled Palestinians, and an end to settler colonialism.\" Millions globally, she noted, remain refugees barred from their homeland. \"Our grandparents had hope in 1948. We carry that hope today.\"
Hope Against the Odds
Despite the devastation, Alami remains steadfast. \"People in Gaza under bombardment still dream of liberation. So do we.\" For her, hope is revolutionary: \"It’s what keeps our struggle alive across generations.\"
As global solidarity grows, Alami’s message resonates: Liberation isn’t a distant ideal—it’s a demand. ✨
