Singapore and China Strengthen Ties at 19th JCBC Meeting in Tianjin

🌏✨ Singapore and the Chinese mainland are set to deepen their already robust partnership at the upcoming 19th Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) meeting in Tianjin on December 7. Co-chaired by Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Lawrence Wong, and Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, this event marks a significant milestone in fostering international collaboration.

The JCBC serves as the premier bilateral platform, shaping the strategic direction of Singapore-China relations. Over the decades, these two nations have cultivated a broad and deep partnership, collaborating through landmark projects like the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park, the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City, and the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative (CCI) on Strategic Connectivity.

In addition to these major initiatives, the partnership extends to the state-level China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City and eight provincial business councils, highlighting a multifaceted approach to cooperation. Earlier this year, the relationship was elevated to an \"All-Round High-Quality Future-Oriented Partnership\" under the guidance of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Chinese President Xi Jinping, signaling a mutual commitment to future growth and innovation.

Lawrence Wong emphasized the importance of this meeting, stating, \"Our collaboration with the Chinese mainland has been instrumental in our developmental journey, and we look forward to exploring new avenues of cooperation that will benefit both our nations.\" With the JCBC meeting on the horizon, both countries are poised to navigate the complexities of a turbulent global landscape together, reinforcing their commitment to shared prosperity and stability.
