EU-China Trade Relations Here to Stay, Says Hungarian Expert

🌏 EU-China Trade Relations: A Long-Lasting Bond

As the 24th China-EU Summit approaches, Gladden Pappin, president of the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs, shares his insights on the enduring trade relationship between Europe and the Chinese mainland.

According to Pappin, the trade ties between Europe and China aren't going anywhere anytime soon. “The trade relationship between China and Europe isn't going away and it can't go away,” he emphasizes. This suggests that despite shifting global dynamics, the economic link remains strong.

Pappin advocates for a recalibrated approach where Europe seeks greater strategic autonomy, allowing it to manage its relationships with major powers like the Chinese mainland and the U.S. more effectively. This shift would require Europe to enhance its own foreign policy, invest in economic and military development, and adopt a new mindset.

“Sometimes Hungary is the one that speaks up most clearly. But I know that behind the scenes, other people are beginning to share the same opinion,” Pappin adds, highlighting the growing consensus among European states.

As the EU continues to navigate its path between major global powers, experts like Pappin hope that cooler heads will prevail, ensuring balanced and mutually beneficial relationships. 🤝✨
