Azerbaijan's top diplomat, Hikmat Hajiyev, has just wrapped up a high-stakes visit to China, signaling a new chapter in bilateral cooperation. In an exclusive interview with The Hub's Wang Guan, Hajiyev highlighted the countries' 'enduring friendship' and shared vision for green innovation, tech collaboration, and people-to-people bonds.
With Azerbaijan set to host COP29 this November, Hajiyev emphasized China's role as a 'pivotal partner' in advancing climate goals. 'From solar energy to smart infrastructure, Chinese tech is accelerating our green transformation,' he said, teasing potential visa-free travel for Chinese citizens to boost tourism and cultural exchanges.
The diplomat also spotlighted the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), a trade corridor linking Asia and Europe. 'Azerbaijan's predictability and principle-driven diplomacy make us a reliable bridge between the Global North and South,' he added, nodding to Baku's growing geopolitical clout.
As both nations ramp up investments in renewable energy and AI, Hajiyev's message is clear: Azerbaijan is all-in on partnerships that balance growth with sustainability.
