Nauru & China Chart New Era of Partnership 🌏🤝

Nauru, the tiny Pacific island nation making big waves in global diplomacy, is doubling down on its renewed ties with China. In an exclusive interview with CMG during his state visit, President David Adeang shared ambitious plans to deepen collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) – and he’s bringing islander energy to the table! 🌊

“We’re not just rebuilding bridges – we’re coding a whole new OS for bilateral relations,” Adeang quipped, nodding to China’s tech prowess. The partnership menu? Think climate resilience (critical for low-lying Nauru), green infrastructure projects, and sustainable trade frameworks. ♻️

Adeang emphasized Nauru’s “unshakable” support for the one-China principle, calling it the “cornerstone” of trust. He praised President Xi Jinping’s global vision as “refreshingly collaborative,” rejecting zero-sum geopolitics. “China’s rise isn’t someone else’s loss – it’s a masterclass in win-win development,” he told reporters.

With plans to adapt China’s modernization strategies to Nauru’s needs (think solar-powered fisheries 🐠 + digital governance hacks), this partnership could become a blueprint for South-South cooperation. As Adeang boarded his flight home, one thing was clear: in the Pacific’s great power chess game, Nauru is playing 4D chess.
