Leaders from China and the Caribbean island nation of Dominica exchanged warm messages this weekend to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. President Xi Jinping called Dominica a "key partner" in the region, pledging to boost cooperation on trade, infrastructure, and the Belt and Road Initiative.
Xi highlighted China’s commitment to "high-quality development" of bilateral ties, while Dominica’s President Sylvanie Burton praised the "fruitful" friendship and China’s support for her country’s growth.
Meanwhile, Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit vowed to deepen collaboration in agriculture, tourism, and green energy, with Skerrit emphasizing China’s role in Dominica’s "economic transformation."
The two nations have collaborated on projects ranging from climate resilience to education since establishing ties in 2004. Their latest pledges signal a shared vision for tackling global challenges—from sustainable development to tech innovation.
