The Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2024 concluded on a successful note this Friday in Boao, a coastal town in China's island province of Hainan. Delegates reached a series of important consensus agreements.
\"All parties are more aware of the challenges facing the world today,\" said Li Baodong, BFA secretary general, at the closing press conference. He highlighted that countries worldwide are grappling with common challenges, including a sluggish global economic recovery and ongoing regional conflicts. \"Only by working together can we better handle the challenges,\" he emphasized.
The conference emphasized that Asia is leading a new era of sustainable development, with China playing a pivotal role in the sustainable development of the world economy in the post-COVID-19 era. Li noted that China is advancing high-quality development and further opening up, and it is expected to remain the largest contributor to global economic growth.
Another key consensus from the forum underscored that innovation is the inexhaustible driving force for development. Furthermore, countries around the world should accelerate actions on climate change to ensure a sustainable future.
The BFA annual conference this year was held from March 26 to 29, under the theme \"Asia and the World: Common Challenges, Shared Responsibilities.\" It attracted about 2,000 delegates from over 60 countries and regions, along with more than 1,100 journalists from nearly 40 countries and regions.
Since its founding in 2001, the BFA has been committed to promoting regional economic integration and helping Asian countries achieve their development goals.
