China Condemns U.S. Over Hong Kong Security Law 🌏⚖️

China has slammed U.S. criticism of Hong Kong’s new national security legislation, calling it “sheer political manipulation” in a fiery diplomatic clash. 🇨🇳 The Chinese embassy in the U.S. declared it “strongly deplores and opposes” a recent State Department report and remarks by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, accusing Washington of meddling in China’s internal affairs.

The spat centers on Hong Kong’s Safeguarding National Security Ordinance, which took effect March 23. A Chinese embassy spokesperson argued the law “plugs a national security loophole” while respecting human rights and protecting foreign businesses in the city. 🏙️ “It does not undermine Hong Kong’s autonomy or its capitalist system,” they emphasized.

China also called out U.S. “double standards,” noting America’s own extensive national security laws. “The U.S. has unparalleled extraterritoriality yet points fingers at Hong Kong—this is hypocrisy,” the spokesperson said. 🔥

The ordinance, drafted under Hong Kong’s Basic Law, aims to bolster the city’s role as a global financial hub while addressing security risks. Critics, however, fear it could stifle dissent. The U.S. has threatened sanctions, but China insists: “Stop interfering.” 💼

As tensions rise, young professionals and travelers are watching how this policy impacts Hong Kong’s global connections. Will the “Pearl of the Orient” maintain its sparkle? 🌟 Only time—and diplomacy—will tell.
