Mini Three Links Surge: 11K+ Trips Expected for Qingming Festival

The 'mini three links' between the Chinese mainland and the Taiwan region are buzzing with activity! Over 11,000 inbound and outbound passenger trips are anticipated during the Qingming Festival (April 4), according to border authorities in Xiamen. That’s a 25% daily jump compared to March!

First launched in 2001, these direct transport routes connect Fujian Province with Kinmen and Matsu islands. Starting April 1, the Fuzhou-Matsu route doubled to 8 daily trips, while Quanzhou-Kinmen now runs daily round trips.

Officials say many travelers are visiting family, honoring ancestors, or exploring cultural roots—a tradition that’s supercharged this year. With easier cross-strait access, the festival is becoming a bridge for shared heritage and reunion vibes.
