In a significant step towards fostering closer relations, Huang Kunming, secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Guangdong Provincial Committee, met with a Taiwan youth delegation led by Ma Ying-jeou, former chairman of the Kuomintang Party, on Tuesday. 🌟
During the meeting, Huang emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation and exchanges with the Taiwan region. He highlighted Guangdong's history as a vibrant hub for economic, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, thanks to the influx of Taiwan-funded enterprises.
Ma Ying-jeou, leading the youth delegation's visit from April 1 to 11, arrived in Shenzhen on Monday and has since toured several mainland cities, including Zhongshan, Zhuhai, and Guangzhou. His visit coincided with the Qingming Festival, a traditional Chinese occasion dedicated to honoring ancestors and reflecting on heritage.
Huang praised Ma's visit, noting that the enduring and rich Chinese culture serves as a common root that unites compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. 🌏❤️
Ma agreed that increasing cross-Straits exchanges, particularly among young people, is vital for the peaceful development across the Taiwan Strait. \"The youth are the future,\" Ma remarked, highlighting the role of younger generations in building lasting peace and cooperation.
