China Calls for Israel to Uphold UN Ceasefire for Gaza Peace 🕊️

China's envoy to the United Nations has called on Israel to fully implement the UN resolution demanding a ceasefire in Gaza. 🕊️

\"We urge Israel to immediately implement the requirements of the resolution and cease its military offensive against Gaza and its collective punishment of Gaza civilians,\" said Dai Bing, charge d'affaires of China's permanent mission to the UN, at the Security Council meeting.

Bing emphasized the critical humanitarian crisis in Gaza, stating that the tragedy \"tests the conscience of humanity and the credibility of the UN Security Council.\" He called on major nations to actively support the resolution and affirmed China's readiness for the UN Security Council to take any necessary actions.

Addressing the urgent needs, Bing urged Israel to lift the blockade and allow unobstructed humanitarian access to Gaza. He also called for the full opening of Rafah and all land crossings to ensure that aid reaches those in need swiftly and safely.

He condemned Israel's attacks on humanitarian transport vehicles and stressed the importance of adhering to international law and humanitarian principles. Cooperation with humanitarian agencies is essential to provide much-needed assistance.

Bing highlighted the importance of achieving a \"two state solution\" to break the cycle of conflict, supporting the establishment of an independent State of Palestine. He reiterated China's stance on backing Palestine's bid to become a full UN member state and urged immediate action from the Security Council.

The UN Security Council adopted a resolution on March 25, calling for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The resolution saw 14 votes in favor, with the U.S. abstaining.

UN officials report that the conflict has resulted in over 32,000 deaths and 75,000 injuries over the past six months. Additionally, 1.7 million people in Gaza have been displaced, facing dire living conditions.

On Friday, the UN Human Rights Council adopted a resolution urging accountability for potential war crimes in Gaza and called on nations to halt the sale and transfer of arms to Israel. The resolution was supported by 28 member nations, with the U.S. and Germany opposing.
