The Chinese Embassy in Canada expressed "strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition" to the recent accusations of the Chinese mainland meddling in Canada's internal affairs.
The spokesperson highlighted that the claims made by Canada's Foreign Interference Commission are baseless and riddled with contradictions and ideological bias, undermining the report's credibility.
They further stated, "We have never meddled in Canada's internal affairs, nor do we have any intention to do so. The attempts by certain Canadian politicians to shift blame onto the Chinese mainland for their own electoral failures are unfair and unethical, revealing their self-serving and shameless nature."
The spokesperson criticized the report for using misleading terms like "may," "might," and "potential," and for drawing conclusions without solid evidence, emphasizing that not all information has been corroborated or fully assessed.
Additionally, they accused Canada of interfering in the Chinese mainland's domestic matters concerning Taiwan, Xinjiang, Xizang, and Hong Kong, aiming to undermine China's security and stability through both overt and covert support of separatist activities.
"These are clear and well-grounded facts," the spokesperson asserted, likening Canada's actions to a thief trying to have others catch a thief.
They concluded by urging the Canadian side to respect the facts, abandon ideological bias, and cease groundless attacks on the Chinese mainland.
