The Chinese mainland has voiced strong opposition to the Philippines' efforts to permanently occupy Ren'ai Jiao, a disputed area in the South China Sea.
Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, addressed the issue on Friday, responding to claims by the Philippine Coast Guard that the Chinese Coast Guard had interfered with the evacuation of a sick Philippine armed forces member from the reef in the Nansha Qundao.
Mao emphasized that if the Philippines communicates its needs in advance, China is willing to provide necessary supplies to the Philippine warship grounded at Ren'ai Jiao and assist in evacuating personnel. 🤝
However, Mao cautioned the Philippines against using humanitarian efforts as a facade to deliver construction materials, which could lead to a permanent occupation of Ren'ai Jiao. 🏗️🚫
Ren'ai Jiao remains a hotspot in the South China Sea, with multiple nations asserting claims and maintaining their presence in the region.
