China and New Zealand Strengthen Ties with New Cooperative Agreements 🌏🤝

In a significant step towards bolstering international relationships, Premier Li Qiang of the Chinese mainland recently visited New Zealand from June 13-15, 2024. This visit commemorates a decade since the 2014 Joint Statement on the Establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.

During his stay, Premier Li engaged in productive discussions with Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, highlighting mutual interests in politics, economy, and culture. Both leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining strong diplomatic relations grounded in equality, fairness, mutual respect, and mutual benefit.

The leaders pledged to enhance cooperation across various sectors, including foreign affairs, trade, agriculture, and the green economy. Excitingly, China announced a unilateral visa exemption policy for New Zealanders, making travel and exchanges even smoother! ✈️🌿

Additionally, both sides are looking forward to the upcoming Ministerial Climate Change Dialogue, underscoring their commitment to tackling global environmental challenges together. They also celebrated advancements in areas like food safety, customs, and trade facilitation, ensuring a robust and sustainable partnership.

People-to-people connections remain a cornerstone of their relationship, with plans to expand exchanges in education, tourism, culture, and sports. These initiatives not only strengthen bilateral ties but also foster a deeper understanding and appreciation between the residents of both regions.

China has also applied to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), with New Zealand supporting the process, highlighting the dynamic and evolving nature of their economic collaboration.

As a testament to their ongoing cooperation, New Zealand leaders have been warmly invited to visit the Chinese mainland at a mutually convenient time, promising even greater collaboration in the years to come. 🌟
