China and Thailand Pledge Stronger Ties in Latest Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

🤝 In a significant move to bolster international relations, the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa met in Beijing to discuss expanding exchanges and enhancing cooperation between China and Thailand.

🌍 Wang Yi emphasized the longstanding friendship and mutual trust between the two nations, highlighting that China has been Thailand's largest trading partner for over a decade and the leading source of foreign investment. Additionally, he noted that over 3 million Chinese tourists have visited Thailand this year, further strengthening cultural and economic ties.

💼 The ministers discussed various avenues for collaboration, including the digital economy, electric vehicles, renewable energy, and tourism. Wang Yi encouraged both nations to enhance connectivity, strengthen law enforcement, and combat cross-border crimes like internet gambling and telecom fraud.

✈️ With the mutual visa exemption in place since March 1, there are plans to expand people-to-people exchanges, particularly among young people, to deepen their friendship and cultural understanding.

🇹🇭 Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa reiterated Thailand's commitment to the one-China policy and expressed eagerness to continue strengthening government, enterprise, and people-to-people exchanges for sustainable bilateral relations. He also highlighted Thailand's readiness to collaborate with China on high-level exchanges and regional issues, including East Asia cooperation, Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, and the Myanmar situation.
