🌍 China Strengthens Ties with African Nations at Global Development Forum

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held high-profile meetings with African leaders and former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon during Beijing's Second High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development this Friday. The diplomatic hub 💼 focused on accelerating sustainable development across the Global South.

During talks with Gabon's Foreign Minister Régis Onanga Ndiaye, Wang emphasized China's commitment to the Global Development Initiative (GDI) – a Beijing-led effort to fast-track progress on the UN's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. 🌱 'Developing nations deserve a fair shot at prosperity,' Wang stated, praising Gabon's active role in the GDI's 'Group of Friends.'

Madagascar's top diplomat Rafaravavitafika Rasata also joined discussions, with Wang pledging to 'pool resources' for Africa's revitalization. The meetings come as China deepens its 'win-win' partnerships 👐 with Global South nations, blending infrastructure investment with tech cooperation and green energy projects.

Ban Ki-moon's presence added star power to the forum, highlighting global interest in China's development diplomacy playbook. As one young attendee tweeted: 'When Beijing talks sustainability, the world’s watching 📈 – especially Gen Z!'
