China's top legislator, Zhao Leji, made an official goodwill visit to Russia from July 9 to 13, marking an important step in enhancing bilateral relations 🇨🇳🤝🇷🇺.
Invited by Viacheslav Volodin, chairman of the Russian parliament's lower house, and Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council, Zhao met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg. He also held separate talks with Matviyenko and Volodin in Moscow, further solidifying the strong ties between the two nations.
During his visit, Zhao participated in the 9th meeting of the China-Russia Committee for Parliamentary Cooperation, where he conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping's warm greetings and good wishes to President Putin. This visit coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, celebrating decades of strategic partnership.
Zhao highlighted that under the strategic guidance of their leaders, the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership has reached new heights, delivering tangible benefits to both countries. Reflecting on the recent meeting between Xi and Putin in Astana, where several strategic agreements were reached, Zhao emphasized the NPC's commitment to collaborating with the Russian Federal Assembly to implement these key agreements at the legislative level.
President Putin expressed his cordial greetings to Xi and mentioned the successful bilateral discussions at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Astana. He praised the strong cooperation between the Russian and Chinese legislative bodies, which supports key bilateral priorities and fosters a favorable environment for economic, cultural, and legal progress.
By strengthening the Russia-China Committee for Parliamentary Cooperation, both nations aim to promote the exchange of experience, mutual learning, and understanding.
