Strengthening China-Russia Ties: Zhao Leji's Official Visit 🇨🇳🤝🇷🇺

From July 9 to 13, Zhao Leji, chairman of China's National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, embarked on an official goodwill visit to Russia, aiming to bolster the already strong bilateral relations between the two nations.

Invited by Viacheslav Volodin, chairman of the Russian parliament's lower house, the State Duma, and Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council, Zhao held crucial meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg and engaged in separate talks with Matviyenko and Volodin in Moscow.

During his visit, Zhao participated in the 9th meeting of the China-Russia Committee for Parliamentary Cooperation in Moscow, where he conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping's heartfelt greetings and best wishes to President Putin.

Highlighting the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, Zhao emphasized that under the strategic leadership of their respective leaders, the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership has reached new heights, delivering tangible benefits to both countries.

Reflecting on the recent meeting between Xi and Putin in Astana, where several strategic agreements were reached, Zhao expressed the NPC's willingness to collaborate with the Russian Federal Assembly to implement these key agreements at the legislative level. This cooperation aims to deepen political mutual trust, expand practical collaborations, and enhance the friendship between the two peoples.

President Putin reciprocated by requesting Zhao to extend his warm greetings to President Xi. He highlighted their fruitful discussions during their recent meeting at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Astana, where they exchanged in-depth views on bilateral cooperation and reached significant consensus. Putin underscored the robust cooperation between Russian and Chinese legislative bodies, which supports key bilateral priorities and fosters a favorable environment for economic, cultural, and legal advancements.

By strengthening the work of the Russia-China Committee for Parliamentary Cooperation, both nations aim to promote the exchange of experience, mutual learning, and understanding. This collaboration not only enhances legislative and sub-national cooperation but also fosters stronger friendships between the two peoples, as emphasized by Putin.
