In a powerful gesture of reconciliation, a former member of Japan's Unit 731 Youth Corps has returned to China to offer heartfelt apologies to the victims of wartime biological warfare. 🕊️
Mr. Hideo Shimizu, 94, arrived in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, where he recounted harrowing memories of human organ dissections and the collection of prisoners' bones used in brutal experiments. His courage to confront and acknowledge these dark chapters has been commended by China's Foreign Ministry.
\"We appreciate the courage of Mr. Hideo Shimizu to expose and face the historical truth,\" stated Lin Jian, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, during a recent press briefing. China hopes that this act of remorse will encourage the Japanese government to reflect more deeply on its wartime actions.
Shimizu, who fled China with the retreating Japanese forces on August 14, 1945, spent over four months in Harbin witnessing and participating in heinous war crimes, including the cultivation of pathogens and human experiments.
