The Kazan BRICS Media Dialogue, themed \"Exchange and Mutual Learning for A Shared Future,\" took place on Wednesday in the Russian city of Kazan, the host of the 16th BRICS Summit.
Top media heads, government agency representatives, and think tank members from China, Russia, Brazil, South Africa, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Belarus, and other nations gathered for the dialogue, co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG) and All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company.
Participants engaged in deep discussions on effectively narrating the stories of BRICS modernization and delivering comprehensive, objective, and impartial news worldwide. They expressed enthusiasm for building consensus, enhancing cooperation, learning from one another, and leveraging media influence to advance the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Shen Haixiong, president of CMG, highlighted in his speech that BRICS media have consistently embraced the BRICS spirit of openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation. He emphasized their role as transmitters of shared values, protectors of diverse civilizations, and leaders in cultural collaboration.
Shen further remarked that as BRICS expands, its media should be guided by the five commitments proposed by President Xi Jinping at the 16th BRICS Summit: peace, innovation, green development, justice, and strengthening people-to-people exchanges.
He also advocated for BRICS media to speak with a unified voice, foster common development, and promote shared values.
