Chinese Ministry Dismisses Garlic as U.S. ‘Food Security Threat’ 🧄🇨🇳🇺🇸

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has fired back at recent U.S. claims that Chinese garlic poses a \"major threat\" to American food security. Spokesperson Mao Ning stated that garlic could never be imagined as a significant threat, adding that such assertions have been mocked by Chinese netizens.

U.S. Senator Rick Scott recently declared Chinese garlic a \"major threat\" to U.S. food safety and pushed for a Section 301 investigation. Additionally, the U.S. House of Representatives has passed the \"National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025,\" which includes provisions to ban the sale of Chinese garlic in military stores.

Mao Ning criticized the growing trend in the United States of labeling Chinese products—including drones, cranes, refrigerators, and garlic—as \"national security risks.\" She argued that the reasons cited by U.S. politicians do not hold up under scrutiny.

The spokesperson further accused the U.S. of using these actions as a guise for protectionism, abusing state power to suppress and contain China's development, and disrupting industrial and supply chains.

\"Overstretching the concept of national security and politicizing economic, trade, and technological issues will only exacerbate global supply chain risks and ultimately harm people,\" Mao concluded. 💬🌍

She called on some U.S. politicians to exercise more rationality and common sense to avoid becoming laughing stocks. 😂
