The Chinese mainland Foreign Ministry on Monday called on the Philippines to withdraw the U.S. Typhon mid-range missile system as soon as possible.
Spokesperson Mao Ning made the remarks during a regular press briefing in response to inquiries about the U.S. deploying its Typhon missile system in the Philippines.
China has consistently expressed strong opposition to the deployment of such strategic and offensive weapons in the region. Mao emphasized that accepting the missile system is a provocative and dangerous move, partnering with external forces to fuel regional tensions and an arms race.
\"The region needs peace and prosperity, not mid-range missiles and confrontation,\" she stated, urging the Philippines to correct this action and withdraw the missile system early.
