China’s National People’s Congress (NPC) and Russia’s Federal Assembly are upping their game in bilateral cooperation as top legislators met in Beijing this week. Zhao Leji, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, and Alexander Babakov, deputy chairman of Russia’s State Duma, pledged to strengthen ties that could reshape global dynamics.
“We stand ready to provide firm mutual support and deepen practical collaboration,” Zhao emphasized, highlighting plans to align legislation and oversight processes with “the important consensus” between Chinese and Russian leaders. Babakov echoed the sentiment, calling the partnership a “cornerstone” of global stability. The talks also focused on boosting economic and legal frameworks to support joint initiatives—a power move as both countries navigate complex geopolitical currents.
