Sudan Crisis Deepens: UN Alarmed by El Fasher Violence 🌍💔

UN humanitarian agencies are sounding the alarm over escalating violence in Sudan's El Fasher, where reports of mass graves, sexual violence, and systemic abuse against fleeing civilians have surged. Satellite imagery and eyewitness accounts paint a harrowing picture of atrocities as conflict engulfs North Darfur state.

Escalating Violence

Fighting intensified after the Rapid Support Forces captured El Fasher last week, triggering mass displacement. Local volunteers reported executions, sexual violence, and attacks on civilians fleeing the city. Satellite data revealed at least two mass graves near key landmarks, with signs of widespread body disposal operations.

Humanitarian Crisis

Over 82,000 people have fled El Fasher since late October, overwhelming nearby towns like Tawila. The UN Population Fund highlighted extreme risks for women and girls, including rape and abduction, while medical facilities struggle to treat 1,300+ gunshot victims. Chad, already hosting 1.4 million Sudanese refugees, braces for a new influx as violence spreads.

International Response

UN agencies urge immediate global action to fund health, water, and protection services in Chad. OCHA reiterated calls for a ceasefire and safe humanitarian access, stressing that current resources are 'dangerously insufficient.'
