Meet Jiang Yiting, a 19-year-old shooting prodigy from China, who is all set to represent her country in the women's skeet event at the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. 🎯🏆
Although this will be Jiang's first Olympic appearance, she's no stranger to the big stage. Before the pandemic-delayed Tokyo Olympics in 2021, she trained alongside top national team members Wei Meng and Zhang Donglian, even witnessing Wei secure a bronze medal. 🥉
\"I was a training partner with the Chinese national team before the Tokyo Olympics,\" Jiang told China Media Group (CMG). \"I was basically learning from the big brothers and sisters during that time to improve myself.\"
Training with China's elite shooters laid a strong foundation for Jiang, who began making waves in domestic competitions in the following years. In early 2023, she dominated the World Cup trials, finishing in first place. 🌟
\"I gained the most from competing in the final,\" Jiang shared. \"I began to understand what I should think of on break, and how to change my mindset to perform well in the final.\"
Her hard work paid off when she was confirmed as a member of the Chinese national team for the Paris Olympics after the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup in Italy this June. A few years ago, Jiang was a young fan of Chinese Olympians; now, she proudly joins their ranks. 🌏✨
\"I feel proud of myself for being able to compete at the Olympic Games for the first time in my career,\" Jiang said. \"I hope I can reach top-six at the event.\"
