Jalen Brunson Takes Pay Cut to Secure Knicks’ Future 🔥🏀

Big news for Knicks fans! 🗽🏀 Jalen Brunson just signed a four-year, $156.5 million contract extension with the New York Knicks on Friday. According to his agent, Sam Rose of CAA, the 2024 All-NBA Second Team and All-Star guard agreed to take up to $113 million less than he could have snagged for a year from now.

Brunson first joined the Knicks on a four-year, $104 million deal in June 2022, with two years left on that contract before the new extension. By opting for a more modest deal, he’s helping the Knicks keep their payroll below the second-apron level of the salary cap, giving the team more flexibility for future moves and transactions.

The Knicks have been busy in the trade market, most notably acquiring Mikal Bridges. They sent Bojan Bogdanovic along with four unprotected first-round NBA Draft picks for Bridges and additional picks from the Bucks and Nets. Plus, they’ve locked in OG Anunoby on a five-year, $212.5 million deal. 🛠️ With these moves, Brunson’s pay cut is a strategic play to keep the team competitive and loaded for what's next!
