🌟 Chinese equestrian Alex Hua Tian made headlines at the 2024 Paris Games, marking his fourth Summer Olympics at the age of 34. Since his debut in Beijing 2008, Hua Tian has shown unwavering dedication to the sport, inspiring many along the way.
In Paris, Hua Tian started strong, securing third place in the dressage. However, a 15-point penalty during the cross-country phase shifted his position, and he ultimately finished in 23rd place. Despite the challenges, Hua Tian remains optimistic about his performance.
During an interview with CGTN Sports Scene's Greg Laffradi, Hua Tian praised his horse, Chocs:
\"I cannot say anything other than that Chocs was absolutely brilliant this week. He's a phenomenally talented horse. I have a lot of faith with him and I've had a seven-year partnership. We've saved him for these games, and he was just brilliant. You know, his dressage test was a real pleasure to be a part of.\"
The seasoned athlete reflected on his Olympic journey, stating that participating in four Games has boosted his confidence:
\"I probably need a little bit of time to digest and understand what's happened here. In all honesty, these games have given me and hopefully my team a tremendous amount of confidence. We've produced a world-class horse, and he's come in great condition despite past challenges with his fitness. He's performed at his total best. The only reason he wasn't in the top 10, if not better, was circumstances outside of our control.\"
Equestrian sports might not be as mainstream as football or basketball, but they've been gaining popularity in China in recent years. Hua Tian hopes that the stories and moments from the Paris Games will inspire more children to take up the sport.
\"I just hope the images from the sport, from Versailles, from Paris, inspire children and families around the world. Not just by the winners, but by the stories, the horses, and the backgrounds of each of the riders,\" Hua Tian added.
